This year's 11th annual Central Lancashire Business Event is hosted by Preston City Council.

The theme of this year's event is 'Customer at the Heart' and will focus on how to provide the most effective customer service for today's modern consumer.

This year we are delighted to welcome Kate Hardcastle, 'The Customer Whisperer', to share her story and Mike Ode, Director of Potential Unearthed, will be joining us again as host.

Mike Ode is the Owner and Director of Potential Unearthed, a Chorley based Management and Personal Development Training Company. Mike started the business along with his wife Sarah in 2009 and the business has gone from strength to strength ever since. She is a regular contributor and industry commentator to Sky News, BBC as well as many prevalent trade publications. She is also Patron of a district of the RSPCA, Founder and Chairwoman of The Charity Dreamgirls and Founding Partner of business transformation organisation Insight with Passion.

Kate is an in-demand consultant advising household names to help them reach more customers, transform the customer experience and become more successful.

Adept at working in the independent sector or with multi-nationals, Kate has combined a “back to basics” pragmatic approach with a career built on helping brands expand and raise their profile.

An award-winning professional, consultant and entrepreneur Kate is invited to speak at international events across industries including travel, spa, interiors and retail.

One of Kate’s most well-known seminars explores the practice of Retail Theatre. Delivered around the globe it provides advice to retailers and businesses on using the five senses to entice consumers and increase footfall and profitability.

Kate is known for her determination to transform the customer experience in the UK and beyond. She is often referred to as the “Queen of customer service” as it is central to her belief of how the retail sector can engage with consumers.

A consumer champion who listens and translates consumer needs she has worked with major household brands including Silentnight, and in 2011 established the Customer at the Heart Awards, rewarding great customer service.
